Hello Robert Kaschuba, what do you do professionally all day?
I work in the aviation industry, focusing on helicopters. Some days I dive deep into data with my colleagues, other days I am right in the middle of contract negotiations with my sales team. I do a lot of interface work, bringing different people together, building bridges with our business partners, representing our company internationally at events and trade shows. And of course, leading my department is the central task.
Overall, I would say: My job is a constant balancing act between operational management and strategic planning, between collaboration and leadership, between the here and now and the future. This makes my everyday life quite varied, dynamic, and fulfilling.
Why do you enjoy leading?
I have the great fortune of working daily with many clever people who are passionate about helicopters and customer service.
I want to create an environment for them where they can fully realize their potential. Overall, I enjoy leading because it allows me to support people, work creatively, and make progress. It’s this mix of humanity and the opportunity to make strategic decisions that not only advance our company but also make our customers happier. Being able to help shape the future of our company is what motivates me.
How did you feel in the “Future Leadership Training”? Did you feel comfortable? Why?
The team of Anja, Helga, and Martin created a feel-good atmosphere where all the “part-givers” could really come out of their shells at any time. This resulted in a flowing exchange on equal footing, allowing everyone to share their ideas with the group. It’s much more enjoyable than a tense training session in an anonymous group. Many interesting and unusual perspectives come together. I find that very inspiring.
Who or what led you to the “Future Leadership Training”?
I was recommended by a colleague from our management who was once an enthusiastic participant himself.
Please summarize the training in 3 terms? Or in 3 sentences.
- Leadership is becoming increasingly important – “working on the system” too.
- The leadership tasks are similar for most participants, but the solutions can be very diverse.
- Continuous perspective changes stimulate reflection.
A training moment that opened your eyes, mind, or heart (or all together):
On the first two days, we rushed through several topic areas and did a variety of group exercises. On the third morning, I had a massive aha moment when I realized how interconnected everything is.
What did you not expect from this training?
The breathing exercise with Martin was a rollercoaster ride directly into our deepest emotions and feelings. Very unexpected and literally breathtaking!
What could be done differently/better in the next trainings?
After long, intense days in a new group, I always find team building in the evening nice. There’s room for improvement there.
Is there anything else you absolutely want to share?
Don’t underestimate breathing!
