Gütersloh – March 11, 2024. The children’s musical “Der Dachbodenzauber” (The Magic in the Attic) will take to the stage at Gütersloh Theater on May 28 and 29. Some 150 students from four primary and secondary schools in Gütersloh and two primary schools in Bielefeld are performing in the production. The show is being organized by the Liz Mohn Foundation and the Bielefeld-based association Gesellschaft in Bewegung. Tickets for the musical are available through Gütersloh Marketing.
The show tells the exciting story of a group of children who unexpectedly meet up in the attic of a school. Each of them experiences the everyday challenges of school life in their own way. The attic, a long-forgotten place that most students have only heard about, not only becomes a refuge for the children, but also a place of positive transformation and solidarity.
The children have been developing the musical since January, together with instructors from the fields of theater, dance and instrumental and vocal music. The show is part of the project Cantara – Building Bridges, which is jointly supported by the Liz Mohn Foundation and the association Gesellschaft in Bewegung. The production is allowing the children to gain professional insights into acting, dance and music.
“Our music, dance and theater activities are an important contribution to the children’s holistic development,” says project manager Leila Benazzouz from the Liz Mohn Foundation. “Creating something new together and, as a result, experiencing community strengthens their self-confidence. The children learn to take responsibility for themselves and each other and to play an active role in society.”
The performances will take place on the Gütersloh Theater’s main stage on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 4:00 pm (premiere) and Wednesday, May 29 at 9:00 and 11:00 am (closed events for other schools students). Admission is €4 for children and €6 for adults. Tickets for the premiere are available from Gütersloh Marketing GmbH, Berliner Strasse 63, Tel.: 05241/211 36 36, and at www.theater-gt.de.
