The reorganization will ensure that the non-profit activities initiated by Liz Mohn will continue over the long term. It will also make it possible to further develop projects and initiatives under one roof.
“I am delighted that the new foundation will ensure my civic engagement continues long into the future,” says Liz Mohn. “My aim is to build bridges of understanding in today’s world, which is characterized by conflict and uncertainty. This requires international exchange and a deep understanding of business, politics and culture.”
Among the new foundation’s flagship activities are the NEUE STIMMEN International Singing Competition and Masterclasses, the project Cantara – Bridging Cultures and the initiative Cultural Diversity With Music, not to mention high-profile international dialogue events, such as those in Salzburg, Delhi and Singapore, and projects that strengthen corporate culture and training for people in leadership positions.
“Something that is particularly important to me is supporting young people and giving children and adolescents a voice,” Mohn explains. “This will be reflected in many areas of our work.”
Based in Gütersloh, the Liz Mohn Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan operating foundation. The members of its Executive Board are Liz Mohn, the board’s chairwoman, and Matthias Meis. Dr. Jörg Habich and Nadine Lindemann serve as managing directors. A Board of Trustees will be appointed shortly.
The Detmold District Government, the supervisory body overseeing the foundation’s activities, has already approved the new organization’s structure. The Liz Mohn Foundation currently employs approximately 15 people.
Liz Mohn will remain the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s worldwide representative and an honorary member of its Board of Trustees.
