Insights into “Leadership at BMW”
As the host organization, BMW not only provided the setting, but also set the tone for the content: Andreas Walther, Global Head of Corporate Culture & Leadership at the BMW Group, opened the module with a personal reflection on his company’s understanding of leadership. He made it clear: “Leadership means taking responsibility for the future of others and creating an environment in which potential can unfold. You can only move forward courageously if you are aware of your values and motivations, can tolerate contradictions, and at the same time create confidence and orientation.”
During a tour of BMW Welt, Michael Steffl, Head of CoC – Customer Experience Design BMW Welt, also offered participants interesting insights into the connection between brand management, customer experience, and corporate culture.
Increased focus on AI and leadership
In terms of content, Module 2 followed on from the first training session in May 2025 and explored key topics in greater depth:
- Artificial intelligence and leadership: Dr. Johannes Busold presented the results of the Liz Mohn Foundation’s latest study, “Leadership with Artificial Intelligence,” and discussed with participants the specific implications for managers – particularly with regard to the practical use of AI in everyday leadership.
- Future leadership skills: Together with leadership coach Martin Groß, participants explored key competencies such as emotional intelligence, resilience, and digital adaptability—skills that are crucial for leadership in the future.
The training offered an ideal mix of inspiration, practical relevance, and peer learning. In moderated sessions, group work, and reflection phases, participants intensively examined their own leadership roles—not only in terms of technical and strategic aspects, but also in terms of personality, attitude, and impact. This human dimension was deliberately emphasized, because leadership requires presence, empathy, and inner clarity.
Module 2 onloce again confirmed the guiding principle of the Future Leadership Training: to bring young managers from different areas into conversation with each other, to broaden perspectives and to learn from each other. Networking and interdisciplinary exchange remain central components of the program – because responsible leadership requires more than just technical knowledge: it requires people with attitude.
Special thanks go to participant Laura Schindler, Principal Product Owner Mobile Apps at the BMW Group, who suggested her organization as the host for Module 2 and worked with us to ensure its successful implementation.
