How are global crises, geopolitical shifts, and societal transformation processes changing our world?
The musicians of the Münster Air Force Band, conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kallweit, explored these questions during a political education event organized by the Liz Mohn Foundation at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Gütersloh.
After the welcome remarks, Sanny Pulka kicked off the event with the interactive quiz “Die Welt ein Dorf mit hundert Menschen“,” providing a vivid introduction to global interconnections and current challenges.
Dorothea Gregor then spoke about the importance of culture in times of societal transformation and how cultural participation can promote democracy and social coherence.
The event concluded with a panel discussion under the theme “New Times, New Responsibilities—A World in Transition.” Dorothea Gregor and Sanny Pulka joined Hauke Hartmann and Thieß Petersen from the Bertelsmann Foundation to discuss current political developments, international challenges, and the question of what responsibilities institutions and citizens bear in a changing world. Moderated by Jörg Habich, the event became particularly lively during the subsequent exchange with participants from the Air Force Band.
In an open atmosphere, different perspectives were discussed and key topics in political education were explored in depth.
The Air Force Band created a particularly emotional moment when the musicians thanked the founder, Liz Mohn, for the day with a surprise serenade.
